Music is the center of Katie Mosehauer’s practice. From violin and orchestral strings, she moves outward into composition, performance, production, film, landscape, and physical form. Some works are wholly original; others begin with inherited music. Across both, sound and image become vessels for capturing a moment from multiple vantage points—inviting audiences to linger, travel inward, and encounter what time has carried away.
Her current project, Water Remembers, brings these elements together in a four-volume audiovisual body of work. Canonical repertoire, newly composed responses, text, film, and landscape create an explicitly political conversation about the present while remaining part of Katie’s larger artistic world.

Music was my first language.
After years performing with orchestras, recording and touring with independent bands, and working in criminal justice reform, my creative practice became the place where those parallel lives finally converged.
Today I create contemporary classical music and cinematic audiovisual works that invite audiences to linger with ambiguity, rediscover familiar stories, and experience inherited works from new vantage points.
